How about trying HARDOX 600 instead?

HARDOX 600 is a wear-resistant steel plate. It has a hardness of around HRC 58 and can be welded normally. It can be used as is without heat treatment. Until now, it has been used for construction machinery attachments and mixer blades, but recently its use in machine parts has also increased. The other day, a mold manufacturer mentioned that they are currently using SK and SKD with jigs between the molds and their machines, but the heat treatment costs for SK and SKD are high, and there are issues with distortion. I suggested they try HARDOX 600, and they expressed interest in using it. HARDOX 600 excels in wear resistance, and there are a total of four types: HARDOX 500, 450, 400, and 600. The thickness starts from 3.2 mm. It can be processed in various ways, including bending, tapping, drilling, countersinking, and milling, so why not give it a try?

Wear-resistant steel also softens with temperature rise. Check the wear amount and the actual steel temperature separately.

In liners, chutes, and screens where hot materials or products come into contact, in addition to wear, the reduction in hardness and strength due to high temperatures becomes a problem. Even steel plates that excel in wear resistance at room temperature may soften if the operating temperature rises, so it is not always possible to simply select standard wear-resistant steel. Generally, standard wear-resistant steel is often assumed to be used below 300°C, and specialized grades that suppress softening are candidates for temperatures around 300 to 450°C. However, the required performance varies depending on the mode of wear, impact, temperature distribution, and holding time. Areas prioritizing wear resistance are separated from support structures prioritizing high-temperature strength, allowing for the selective use of wear-resistant steel, alloy steel, and heat-resistant steel.
